As part of our topic entitled “Be a Baker”, Year 3 have been set a challenge by Warburtons bakers!
They have been investigating the different types of breads produced and taste-testing them in order to work on a new filled bread range, based on a celebration of their choice.
The children have been very creative, coming up with ideas such as “hedgehog rolls” for harvest and “skull/pumpkin” breads for Halloween!
Each of the breads have been designed by the children using salt dough to practice following a basic recipe and to try shaping the dough into a desired shape.
We learnt that adding too much water makes the dough soggy and adding not enough water makes it dry.
We adapted a basic bread recipe with our desired fillings, using cutting and preparation skills to prepare them. We also learnt how to safely grate, snip and chop, as well as how to wash and tidy up so feel free to test our skills at home!
