Great success for the school swimming team so far this school year. In the local primary school swimming league, the A team continued its unbeaten run to triumph in the recent ‘winner takes all’ A Final. An emphatic victory and fast swimming all round!

A Final Results

2nd Westbury-on-Trym A – 89
3rd Clifton College – 88

Bishop Road had two B teams in the B final meaning that a total of 49 children across Years 4, 5 and 6 were able to participate. There was a super atmosphere and a great time was had by all.

There were some standout individual performances across both galas with plenty of medals won! Barnaby – Year 5 gold in breaststroke and silvers in the freestyle and backstroke; Millie – Year 6 bronze in backstroke; Mia – Year 6 bronze in freestyle; Molly – Year 4 silver in backstroke; and Neel Year 4 silver in freestyle.

English Schools’ Swimming Association – National Qualifers!

Earlier in the term, nine children from across Year 5 and 6 competed at the English Schools’ Swimming Association Primary Team Championships – South West Regional Heats. Both our girl and boy teams finished in the top three in both the freestyle and medley relays, the highlight being the girls’ medley relay team winning their event. This means both the girl and boy relay teams have qualified to represent the school and the South West region in the prestigious national finals in Sheffield in June. A fantastic achievement! We wish them well for the national finals.

Children start taking part in the school swimming team from Year 4. Soon, I will be in contact with Year 3 parents about try out sessions to start to see which children would like to be considered for the swim team for school year 24-25 and beyond.
